Welcome to reading on Team Impact! My name is Kim Rehak and I will be teaching your child reading this year. This marks my 23rd year at Neil Armstrong. I grew up in the West Jefferson Hills School District (known at TJ High School). I graduated from Slippery Rock University in Elementary Education K-8. I did some graduate studies at The University of Pittsburgh. I used to coach volleyball and track before I became a full time teacher and had my own kids. However, I am still a very avid sports fan now. My daughter, Kaylee is a sophomore in college at Fairmont State University and competes on the acro and tumbling team while studying exercise science. My son, Kevin graduated from The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in Business Management last year and is currently working in Bradford while still holding on to the dream of playing professional baseball. My husband, Dan is a physical therapist which is very helpful in a house of athletes!
I look forward to a fun year as I incorporate many hands on learning experiences and often use music to help us learn. I feel it is vital to make reading fun to help hold interests and show kids that reading is more than just words on a page. It can be interactive. I believe in making my classroom a safe and positive environment where everyone feels comfortable and ready for success. I hope to instill in your child the love of being a lifelong reader as it will have endless benefits!

Welcome to great year of science on Team Impact! My Name is Mary Huwe and I will be teaching your child Earth Science this year in 6th grade. I have been in the teaching profession for 33 years, and this is currently my 23rd year teaching in Bethel Park. I started my own education in Bethel Park as a 6th grade student here at Neil Armstrong. It's great to be back right where I started many years ago. After graduating from Bethel Park High School, I went on to further my education at the University of Pittsburgh, where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, and then Duquesne University, where I obtained my Master's Degree in Special Education. I am not only an educator in Bethel Park, but a resident of this community, as well as a parent of a senior in Bethel Park and a 2018 graduate of Bethel Park.
I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child. My curriculum is designed to keep your child engaged in learning while doing many hands-on lab experiments. The experiments are meant to motivate your child to learn the material, while peaking their interest to want to learn more. I believe that each child deserves a positive classroom experience. It is my job to make my classroom an enthusiastic learning environment, where each child feels important and valued. I hope to make your child a life-long learner, where they are able to see the world through the eyes of a scientist.

Introduction: My name is Peter Glumac and this is my 12th year on Team Impact. I am certified in Elementary and Special Education from Mercyhurst University. I also have my Master's Degree in Special Education. When I work with your children, I have the pleasure of teaching them Reading, Math and Language Arts. As part of Team Impact, I work closely with all 4 core teachers to enhance and assist in the education of all students. As a reading teacher, my goal is to increase your child's fluency and reading level, further their understanding of new vocabulary and make meaningful connections from the text to their own lives. My language arts goals are to enhance their understanding of grammar, strengthen their abilities as writers and enhance their vocabularies. Lastly, in the math classroom I am striving for students to increase their fluency with fundamental concepts and to see how math can work for them by truly understanding how math is a process.
I have been privileged to be part of many different opportunities to work with children: after-school tutoring for 3 years (once at William Penn and twice at George Washington), ESY (for two summers), judging the 3rd Grade Spelling Bee, vacation bible school and "Night to Shine" (Tim Tebow's special needs prom) both at my church. Prior to my teaching career, I was born and raised in Pleasant Hills. With its close proximity, I am no stranger to Bethel Park. My parents helped steer me to a career in education and my enthusiasm has done the rest. It is such a blessing to get excited every day to teach academic and life lessons to your children. When June eventually comes, it's always hard to believe.
